State Secretary Stephan Manke presented Mayor Frank Klingebiel with a funding notification for 630,000 euros for the construction of the new fire station in Thiede today, Thursday, December 9, in the presence of members of the state parliament Stefan Klein and Christoph Plett and local fire chief Marc Borchardt.

The Ministry of the Interior is approving a total of around 18.5 million euros for local authorities throughout Lower Saxony. Important investments for fire protection are being funded in the current process. In addition to construction work on fire department buildings, this also includes the procurement of fire department vehicles and fire protection measures in public facilities.

"The voluntary fire departments make an enormously important contribution to our urban society. We have been working for a long time to create modern infrastructural conditions for all fire brigades. Receiving support from the state for these projects is a great help.

The accommodation of the local fire department in Thied, which is one of the busiest fire departments in the city, has long since ceased to meet current requirements. The fact that the state is subsidizing the new building with 630,000 euros is an important signal and a clear sign of appreciation."

A modern fire station for the local firefighters is to be built at Grashof, not far from Thieder Bad. The plan to amend the development plan has already been drawn up.

The current 52-strong squad has been housed at the Dorfkrug in the center of the district since the 1980s.

The building used to date is reaching its limits. There is not enough space and the building fabric is not holding up. The walls are already extremely damp and the modern vehicles are now larger than the existing parking spaces.

Unlike now, the replacement building will have a separate parking space for each fire department vehicle, as well as storage facilities, larger training rooms and separate changing rooms with showers.
