Konradfonds supports 78 charitable projects this year

After the application deadline was extended until the end of May due to the corona pandemic, the Board of Trustees of Endlager Konrad Stiftungsgesellschaft mbH met at the beginning of the summer vacation.

Under the chairmanship of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, over 90 applications with an application volume of around 6 million euros were discussed. Almost 80 grants with a total of 4 million euros were approved for this year.

The group of sponsored project sponsors is once again broad and ranges from choral societies, shooting clubs, allotment garden associations, school clubs, voluntary fire departments, the hospice initiative and the DLRG to a wide variety of sports clubs.

45 projects, or more than half of all projects, received funding of less than 20,000 euros. They range from 850 euros for materials for an art therapy program for systemic offenders at ISE Salzgitter (Intensive Individual Social Pedagogical Support) to 9,760 euros for a riding lawn mower for the Am Birkenweg allotment garden association in Salzgitter-Bad and 19,300 euros for the roof renovation of the shooting clubhouse of the Thiede shooting club.

The seven largest grants of 150,000 euros or more range from 164,800 euros for the renovation of the stadium of the Glück Auf Gebhardshagen sports club to 640,000 euros for the construction of the new water rescue station at Salzgittersee by DLRG-Lebenstedt. A list of the funded projects and charts showing the distribution of the funding are enclosed.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Lord Mayor Klingebiel, commented: "I am delighted that in the 10th year since the fund was established, we have now been able to support over 500 projects with a total of 14 million euros with the 78 new grants. Many of the projects would not be possible for the associations, non-profit institutions and facilities without the funding. However, this enables them to develop further for the benefit of the community and position themselves for the future. I would particularly like to thank the many volunteers for their work and initiative."
