You should be interested in working with children and youth groups, as well as being reliable and responsible. In addition to a willingness to examine your own behavior, you should enjoy working with children and young people. Furthermore, completion of a first aid course and attendance at all course dates are required. The courses comprise approx. 40 hours and are spread over three weekends.
The course content of the youth leader training includes topics on legal issues (duty of supervision, liability and endangering the welfare of children), pedagogy (leadership styles, group phases, group dynamics) and many practical suggestions for action: group games, organization and planning of camps, events and group offers. There are also tips and tricks for public relations work, applying for grants and other assistance for day-to-day work.
The City of Salzgitter's youth development department offers those interested pedagogical training, interesting practical assignments and many opportunities to gain experience in working with other people. An expense allowance for the assignment is usually included.
The acquisition of the Youth Leader Card (JULEICA) is associated with numerous discounts at many public facilities, such as going to the cinema or swimming pool. The qualification and the JuleicaCard can also be useful for job applications.
The youth leader training starts on Saturday, November 6, and Sunday, November 7, at the Forellenhof youth culture workshop (Forellenweg 10, Lebenstedt). It will then continue on Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21. The last weekend will take place on Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5.
