Salzgitter

Results of the Kommunalwahl officially determined

At the meeting of the Municipal Election Committee on September 16, the final result of the election of the Lord Mayor, the Council and the local councils in the districts of the City of Salzgitter on September 12 was decided.

The electoral office had previously checked all election records for plausibility and had to recount individual electoral districts. According to the municipal electoral officer, all recounts remained within certain limits without any significant effects.

Frank Klingebiel (CDU) is and will remain Lord Mayor of the city of Salzgitter until 2026.

Eight parties and one electoral association will be represented on the city council elected for the next five years. Almost 77,000 eligible voters were asked to cast their vote. The voter turnout was around 48 percent.

The 46 seats on the council are divided as follows:

SPD (16)
CDU (14)
AfD (5)
Greens (4)
FDP (2)
Die Linke (2)
Free Voters (1)
MBS (1)
The Party (1)

The city parliament will convene for the first time at its constituent meeting on November 3. The formation of the new council as the highest political governing body will be a public meeting.
