Mayor Klingebiel: Double budget 2021/22 approved without restriction

Good news from Hanover: The Ministry of the Interior and Sport has approved the double budget for 2021 and 22 without restrictions.

At the end of January, the Salzgitter City Council set the main cornerstones for the current and coming year with its resolution on the budget statutes proposed by Mayor Frank Klingebiel.

A double budget for 2019 and 2020 was adopted for the first time in December 2018.

One key advantage is that the approval process at the Ministry of the Interior, which can take up to three months, does not have to be completed every year; the approval that has now been granted also includes the budget for 2022. This means greater freedom of action - within the approved framework - for the administration, but also greater planning security and reliability for third parties.

The obligation to prepare a supplementary budget in the event of significant changes to revenue or expenditure estimates remains unaffected.

"The structure of the double budget has convinced us all," says Klingebiel, "and with the unrestricted approval, the Ministry of the Interior is rewarding the unity with which the strict consolidation measures are being continued."
