"However, as this will not be possible for all parents, there will again be emergency childcare in the daycare centers," says Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and clarifies that this can only be used in justified exceptional cases.
Parents who are unable to have their children looked after in a daycare center due to the Lower Saxony Corona Ordinance do not have to pay any fees. The payment of fees is suspended for the period of the lockdown during which regular childcare is not offered. However, daycare fees are charged if emergency care is used.
If only individual days are used, then this will be billed "spitz".
"I know that parents are once again being asked to bear a heavy burden. Therefore, suspending the fees is the least we can do as a city to support them," said Klingebiel. He expressed the hope that a lockdown that is now being implemented consistently will lead to a sustainable and lasting reduction in the number of infections.
"I expect the state of Lower Saxony to fully reimburse us for the loss of fees. I will bring this demand to the talks with the state government together with other representatives of the Lower Saxony Association of Cities and Towns," announced Klingebiel.
