New junior staff at the city of Salzgitter

On August 1, a total of 22 junior employees began their training and studies at the City of Salzgitter.

The new recruits were welcomed by Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel at two events on Friday, July 30 and Monday, August 2. For nine of them, the welcome was combined with their appointment as candidate city inspectors. The junior staff are completing the following courses of study and training with the city:

  • One dual student and eight dual students in general administration,
  • For the first time: three IT dual students
  • Two dual students and one dual student of social work
  • Five trainees as administrative assistants
  • One trainee building cleaner
  • One trainee gardener
  • On April 1, 2021, 19 junior firefighters began their training at the Salzgitter professional fire department: 3 fire chief inspector candidates and one fire chief inspector candidate as well as 15 fire chief candidates.

After successfully completing their training or studies, the junior staff are generally guaranteed a permanent position.


Interested parties can still apply online at www.salzgitter.de/karriere for next year (training starts on August 1, 2022) until September 30, 2021. Apprenticeships are on offer to become a gardener specializing in horticulture and landscaping, a road maintenance technician, a motor vehicle mechatronics technician specializing in commercial vehicles, a specialist in media and information services, an emergency paramedic and an administrative assistant.

Three dual study courses are also offered: Candidate City Inspector in the dual study program in General Administration with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, the dual study program in Information Technology and the dual study program in Architecture.
