Salzgitter

Active online together

Baking crumble cakes, completing tasks in space, playing games together and much more: the children's and youth clubs (KJT) in the city of Salzgitter are increasingly offering online services that are being used more frequently at the moment.

Together, the children and young people are connected through various channels that enable a special kind of togetherness.

The children's and youth clubs are open by telephone registration in compliance with social distancing and hygiene rules, but more and more children and young people are using the online services.

Since March 2020, the KJT teams have put a lot of effort into this: On the Instagram page "dein_sz", the teams from the city's meeting places provide lots of insights into the work on site, instructions for craft ideas or the next favorite recipe for crumble cake. Young people can quickly and easily share ideas for the day or the weekend.

One virtual exchange option is the Discord server, which was set up at the start of the pandemic and is now widely used. All young people from Salzgitter are welcome, and newcomers are also invited to log on to the server (discord.gg/cFzqP3a). For example, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m., the Thiede children's and youth club (KJT) organizes a joint round of "Among Us": a space crew that has to complete tasks and defend itself against two "Impostors" (traitors) who want to sabotage this. An exciting deduction game that has been in vogue for some time. But other common games from Minecraft to Monday Painter are also popular and on offer. And of course, you can also look for fellow players on site if you don't want to play the next dungeon alone.

The team from the children's and youth clubs in the city of Salzgitter also wants to get started on Twitch in the near future. The whole thing will start with a "baking and cooking stream" from the new kitchen in the Graffiti children's and youth club. Both on "twitch.de/dein_sz" and on the Discord channel, viewers will be able to watch social workers Michaela Grabowski and Caroline Bodenburg conjure up something delicious to eat in the kitchen of the newly renovated children's and youth center. Viewers are given the recipe online beforehand so that they can cook along at home.

If you don't like cooking or baking, you can still look forward to it! Because live gaming events will soon be starting on Twitch. For the younger ones, games such as Minecraft and Among Us (both rated 6+) will be streamed. Games such as Phasmophobia (recommended for ages 16 and up) will follow later in the day. More information about the launch will be announced.

But regardless of which offerings are used by children and young people: The digital options complement the existing presence offers. All activities have one thing in common: The KJT teams are always available and a point of contact for children and young people in Salzgitter.
