On Saturday, 17 April and Sunday, 18 April, from 2 to 3.30 pm and 4.30 to 6 pm respectively, language artist Bas Böttcher will provide insights into his "sentence construction kit" and show how to invent your own short pieces and realize ideas with text tricks.
Poetry slam is the art of inspiring, engaging and surprising an audience with words. Fun and creativity are more important than perfection. Anyone interested in music lyrics, theater or their own YouTube blog is in good hands in the poetry slam workshop.
Together with the participants, Böttcher deals with questions such as "What stupid misunderstandings lurk in language?", "How does a love poem sound in Denglish?", "Can words stumble or play hide-and-seek?" The language juggler is certain: "The poetry slam provides the answer." The participants themselves decide whether beatbox, poetry, rap or comedy techniques are used.
The workshop leader
Writer and spoken word artist Bas Böttcher played a key role in shaping the beginnings of the German-language poetry slam scene. He was described as a "pop poetry pioneer" by the Neue Züricher Zeitung. Böttcher's texts have been published many times and have long been regarded as classics of contemporary stage poetry, which he has enriched with performances around the world. He never ceases to amaze audiences with his joy of linguistic experimentation and his linguistic acrobatics and performances.
Bas Böttcher is the inventor of various media formats for poetry, including the text box for live performances, which has been exhibited worldwide. In 2014, he published "The Poetry Slam Primer", the most comprehensive collection of poetry slam pieces to date.
