If the parents are working, they have to work from home and look after their children at the same time as doing their daily housework. Some parents get up very early in the morning to do the first part of their work at home until their children wake up and then continue when their children are back in bed in the evening. This means that they don't get enough sleep and are unable to regenerate sufficiently. This living situation leads to stress and, as a result, often to arguments. These stressors can put a strain on a harmonious family life.

Homeschooling is also an additional burden for the children and young people, who have lacked a fixed everyday structure and personal interaction with their peers for a year.

The team at the Psychological Counseling Center for Children, Adolescents and Parents of the City of Salzgitter is available to help those seeking advice by telephone or in person (in compliance with the general rules of distance and hygiene). All employees are bound to confidentiality. Concerns are treated confidentially. Counseling is free of charge.

The advice center can be reached by telephone on 0 53 41/8 39 34 91 (Lebenstedt, Thiestraße 24) and 0 53 41/8 39 20 36 (SZ-Bad, Marktplatz 11). Registration times are Monday to Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm; Thursdays from 2 pm to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm.
