After the parliamentary groups' budget speeches, the members of the Council voted on a total of almost 50 amendments to the City of Salzgitter's double budget proposed by the parliamentary groups. The double budget for the 2021 and 2022 financial years, including the previously adopted amendments, was then approved.

The budget statutes will now be submitted to the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport for approval.

A proposal for the construction of two new elementary school and three daycare centers as part of the structural aid program of the state of Lower Saxony was also unanimously approved.

The transfer of the decision-making powers of the Salzgitter City Council to the Administrative Committee for a limited period until the end of March 2021 was also approved by a majority in order to ensure the political ability to act in the current pandemic situation.
