Salzgitter

Council meeting on September 29

The new North Primary School at the Pestalozzi School site was approved by the Salzgitter City Council at its meeting on September 29.

This will be built in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt to meet the school space requirements.

Back in June 2021, the council decided to build a new temporary elementary school with four classes at the Pestalozzi School site by 01.08.2022 and to equip it to meet demand. A corresponding school building does not exist and must therefore be constructed with prefabricated modules for the period of need, which can be dismantled again if there is no longer a need. The in-house facility management, purchasing and logistics department has already drawn up a concept for the installation site, the possible floor plan design and the necessary outdoor facilities.

The administration was also commissioned to review the development of the Lobmachtersen district as part of a district development concept with the aim of designating new building plots. The committee also approved a public law agreement between the city of Hildesheim, the district of Hildesheim and the city of Salzgitter on the mutual representation of the fire department control centers in the event of an emergency call failure.

The Council also decided to draw up a structural concept for the development of Salzgittersee before launching an architectural competition and to submit it for a decision. However, the current free and direct access to the lake and its shore must be retained. Furthermore, the buildings and plots of land belonging to the lake clubs should not be affected and the existing circular path should be retained.

Other items on the agenda: Renovation of roads, equality plan, statutes on the advisory board for people with disabilities, statutes on the children's commission, eco-account, fast-charging columns with 150 kW power, 2020 annual financial statements of own companies, pump track facility in Salzgitter-Gebhardshagen

The meeting ended with motions and questions from the political groups. The current and detailed agenda can be viewed in the citizen information system at salzgitter.de.

This was the last meeting of the city parliament in the 17th electoral term. Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel thanked all the council members who had taken on this task on a voluntary basis.

In particular, Mr. Klingebiel expressed his sincere thanks to Council Chairman Bernd Grabb, who chaired the meetings for 15 years. He was, according to Klingebiel, a real personality and was close to everyone's heart. Grabb did not stand for re-election in the Kommunalwahl on September 12.

The constituent meeting of the new council in the 18th electoral term will take place on November 3.
