A highlight of the shooting calendar in Salzgitter took place on Sunday, September 19, at Salder Castle.

At this year's proclamation in the Fürstensaal, Annegrit Woy from the Gebhardshagen shooting club was crowned town queen and Dennis Meyer from the Lebenstedt shooting club was crowned town king. Jette-Marie Hönicke from the Üfingen shooting club was honored as the town youth queen.

Second Mayor Marcel Bürger was there on behalf of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and emphasized in his welcome address: "I am particularly pleased that our best marksmen and women are being honoured again today after a year's forced break. Our clubs are of outstanding importance for social life in Salzgitter."

Since 1973, the Lord Mayor or a deputy has traditionally received the shooting kings and queens. This reception has been held in the Fürstensaal since 1985.
