Founded 18 years ago, the band with Gudrun Walther, Kim Edgar, Hendrik Morgenbrodt and Jürgen Treyz has also gained an excellent international reputation. They have already won the Irish Music Award twice. Concert tours have taken them to various European countries such as the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Great Britain and Denmark, as well as many times to the USA and Australia.
With "Grounded", the band is now presenting its eighth album. In an otherwise extremely active and eventful touring and musical life, the events of the past year have forced them to pause for a moment, resulting in a thoughtful, philosophical but equally life-affirming emotional testimony to the big questions in life.
"Grounded" is a play on words. It means "grounded", but it's also used when you're stuck. For example, if you're in lockdown and can't travel anywhere, then you're also "grounded".
Cara is a band with many facets. They whisk guests away for two hours and take them on a musical journey. There are solos on typical instruments such as pipes, fiddle and guitar. Fairytale ballads about love and betrayal, magic, longing and revenge, about dark, stormy times and the ever-blooming hope alternate with the typical spirited dance tunes that are still played in Irish pubs today.
