A selection of objects from Salzgitter's fire department past is now on display. Highlights include the tobacco tin in the shape of a hand sprayer from the Salzgitter-Bad volunteer fire department from 1908 with many names of firefighters and a village fire extinguisher bucket made of leather that is probably over 200 years old. A number of other items from around 1900, some of which seem strange today, are also on display.
The items on display and many other objects were recently given to the Salder Castle Municipal Museum for safekeeping by the professional fire department of the city of Salzgitter. The new mini-exhibition has an explanatory panel for children aged six to twelve. The display case is located in the entrance area of the cowshed and is barrier-free. As is generally the case at the museum, admission is free.
The Municipal Museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 11 am to 5 pm.
