Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel: "Konrad Foundation supports 92 charitable projects with around two million euros this year"
After the application deadline was extended again until the end of May due to the corona pandemic, as in the two previous years, the Board of Trustees of the Endlager Konrad Stiftungsgesellschaft mbH has now met. Under the chairmanship of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, 112 applications with an application volume of over four million euros were discussed. Initially, 92 applications for a total of around two million euros were approved for this year. Nine applications for around 1.2 million euros were deferred due to the need for further information and consultation and will be dealt with in a second meeting.
The group of sponsored project sponsors is once again broad and ranges from choral societies, shooting clubs, allotment garden associations, school clubs, voluntary fire departments, the hospice initiative, the DLRG to various sports clubs.
65 project sponsorships, or almost 70 percent, are under 20,000 euros. They range from 888 euros for a water rescue dummy from the Gebhardshagen DLRG local group to 9,600 euros for the creation of a village chronicle by the Heerte village community and 19,516 euros for lawn tractor attachments requested by the Glück Auf Gebhardshagen sports club for property maintenance.
Klingebiel commented: "I am delighted that we have now been able to support almost 600 projects with a total of 16 million euros with the 92 new grants since the fund was established. Many of the projects would not be feasible for the associations, charitable institutions and facilities without the funding. However, this enables them to develop further for the benefit of the community and position themselves for the future. I would like to sincerely thank the many volunteers for their outstanding commitment to our community as well as their initiative and drive in the funded projects.
I very much hope that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, it will once again be possible to hand over the funding agreements to the project sponsors at a joint event. It will take place after the summer vacations at the "Wasserwanderern" on Salzgittersee."
