Salzgitter

Large reindeer wall in the Eiszeitgarten is finished

A new attraction at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum has been completed - the reindeer wall in the Eiszeitgarten.

The wall, on which a herd of reindeer can be seen, has been given the long-planned "finishing touches".

Two "wing panels" have been added to the sides. From the visitor's perspective on the left, texts and pictures now provide information about the climate, landscape and people in the Salzgitter region 50,000 years before our time. To the right, the herd of reindeer racing past disappears in the snow flurries. Over time, the bushes here will grow over the end of the wall and provide a visually rounded and "natural" finish. In this way, guests of the Eiszeitgarten, young and old, will be offered a view of an impressive scene of wild nature that very few lucky people get to see up close in the wild. Together with the recently completed restoration of the large shelter and the life-size figures of large Ice Age mammals, the current general overhaul of the Eiszeitgarten is now complete for the time being

From Tuesday, October 18, all those interested will have the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful October weather and pay a flying visit to Salder before the upcoming winter break. Admission is free - as is generally the case at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum. If access via the mill garden is closed, guests should report to the castle's supervisor. Please note: The Eiszeitgarten is not barrier-free.

The Salder Castle Municipal Museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 11 am to 5 pm. The Eiszeitgarten is closed in winter due to the weather.
