Salzgitter

17 new youth leaders

17 participants have successfully completed their youth leader training. They can now work independently with young people, accompany vacation camps and plan and implement activities for children.

There are 17 new youth leaders in Salzgitter.

This voluntary work is an important pillar of society.

Dieter Holters and André Blase were responsible for training the prospective youth leaders, aged between 15 and 41, in their role as social education workers at the City of Salzgitter's Municipal Children and Youth Development Department.

Four female and 13 male participants now belong to the group of committed people in Salzgitter who spend their free time volunteering in youth work. Some of them are already active in youth work and, following their training, now also meet the new legal requirements in terms of duty of supervision, child endangerment and youth protection.

Accordingly, the 50-hour training course covered a wide range of topics. The youth leader training provided background knowledge about youth work. Participants were given lots of tips and training for their own practical work. Strengthening the volunteers' social skills was just as important as issues relating to dealing with and protecting children and young people.

At the end of the third training block on 3 and 4 December at the Forellenhof Youth Culture Workshop (JKW), the 17 participants qualified to accompany vacation camps, work in children's and youth clubs and work in clubs, youth groups and youth associations. They have acquired the necessary specialist knowledge to plan and organize activities for children and young people on their own responsibility. This qualification was confirmed to them with a certificate of participation, with which they can apply for the "Juleica Card".

The next youth leader training course begins on March 25, 2023. Information on this can be found on the Salzgitter city website. Registrations will be possible from 2023.
