Salzgitter

Cycle path work continues near Gebhardshagen and between Heerte and Barum

In Salzgitter, work to renew the cycle path on the state road 670 near Gebhardshagen and on the state road 636 between Heerte and Barum will continue after the winter break from Monday, March 7.

The state authority for road construction and traffic in Wolfenbüttel points this out.

According to the authority, work will begin on the section of the L 670 (north-south road) between the Lobmachtersenstraße junction and the "Vor der Burg" junction. In addition, the missing surface course will be laid in the section to the north of this (up to the junction of the L 670 coming from Heerte) and on the L 636 between Heerte and Barum.

The carriageway will be narrowed during the construction work. Cycle traffic on the L 670 will be diverted within the town via Gebhardshagen.

Subsequently, probably from the end of March, cycle path work will be carried out at the junction of the north-south road with the L 636 (Salder - Heerte). It will not be possible for drivers coming from Gebhardshagen to turn left into Salder. The state authorities will provide information on the exact dates and the detour route in good time.

The entire work should be completed by mid-April. Weather-related delays are generally possible.

The costs of the overall measure amount to around 520,000 euros and will be borne by the state of Lower Saxony.

The state authorities continue to ask for the understanding of affected road users and residents.
