City Councillor Dr. Dirk Härdrich and Sebastian Hendris from the Social Planning and Integration Department of the City of Salzgitter presented the "Respect" sign to 1st Chairman Ibrahim Medeni during the regional league match against Germania Lamme.
Like many other organizations, companies and the city administration before it, IG Metall had provided the sign. In this way, the club members show how important tolerance and respect for everyone are to them and that everyone is welcome at the club. At the presentation, Dr. Härdrich emphasized the valuable work, especially in the area of integration, and expressed his respect for the work of KSV Vahdet in this area.
What is the "Respect" initiative?
"Respect! No place for racism" is an initiative that was launched in 2009 by sportsmen and women and media professionals to draw attention to verbal racism, particularly in soccer.
Mayor Frank Klingebiel has taken over the patronage in Salzgitter. The nationwide initiative gave and still gives actors in Salzgitter, such as the city administration, many companies and the IG Metall trade union, the impetus to plan their own project.
