Another advantage of the new SZMaps application, which was created by Eigenbetrieb Salzgitter Grundstücksentwicklung in cooperation with TOPO graphics, is that it is also optimized for use with mobile devices, which was not previously the case with the city map in particular. The menu navigation is based on the previous geoportal and has been expanded to include the content of the former city map. The following information can be found there, for example, organized by topic:

• Topic City life: Schools, KJTs, public and social facilities and arbitrators
• Building topic: Design and conservation statutes and development plans
• Environment: Landscape conservation and nature conservation areas, natural monuments, suspected contaminated sites and watercourses
• Tourism & leisure: ÖPNV stops, leisure facilities, public WLAN and places of interest
• Construction sites & traffic: Information on current construction sites in the city area
• Economy: Information on industrial companies, utilities and housing associations

Gerard Jaschkowitz, Head of Municipal Services, explains the new portal: "We want to provide our citizens with all map-related information from a single source and as simply as possible. This is now possible with the new SZMaps portal. I would like to thank everyone involved for this successful project."
