Salzgitter

Focus on energy

Renewable energies, energy systems and sustainability: The Volkshochschule of the city of Salzgitter is offering two free lectures on these current topics for adults and one free lecture for children/young people from the initiative "Bürgerdialog Stromnetz". Registrations are still possible.

The expansion of renewable energies is the focus of three presentations.

Energy knowledge 1:

On Wednesday, September 14, the lecture "How the energy transition and electricity grid expansion are connected" (from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at Kniestedter Herrenhaus in Salzgitter-Bad, Braunschweiger Straße 137a) will focus on the effects of renewable energies. Participants will be given an overview of the consequences of the nuclear and coal phase-out. The expansion of the electricity grid associated with the expansion of renewable energies will also be a topic, as will changes in individual behavior. What new lines are needed? What should the energy system look like in the future are two questions that can be discussed afterwards.

Energy knowledge 2 for children/young people (12 to 18 years):

On Thursday, September 22, the lecture "Energy transition and power grid expansion in Germany: it concerns us all!" (from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Volkshochschule Lebenstedt, Thiestrasse 22). Participants will take on the roles of various parties involved in the expansion of the electricity grid. The children/young people will gain a vivid impression of the connections between the energy transition and the expansion of the electricity grid. Appropriate information material is provided so that the relevant arguments for the respective roles can be presented in a debate.

Energy knowledge 3:

On Thursday, October 13, the lecture "Grid expansion, citizen participation and nature conservation" (from 6 to 8.15 p.m. at Kniestedter Herrenhaus in Salzgitter-Bad, Braunschweiger Straße 137a) will focus on the expansion of the electricity grid. How is the need for power lines determined? How do planning procedures work? How important are environmental and health protection? are some of the questions that will be answered. There will also be information on the laying of underground cables and overhead lines as well as the impact on nature. This will be followed by a discussion.
