New A36/B4 bridge construction: detour route via Thiede

The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport, Wolfenbüttel Division, announced:

On the A 36/B 4 near the Braunschweig-Melverode junction, road users must be prepared for a full closure next weekend. The state authority for road construction and traffic in Wolfenbüttel has pointed this out.

The announced installation of the underside bridge protection for the light rail overhead lines has been underway there since this week.

There are therefore initial restrictions in the direction of Wolfenbüttel due to the single-lane traffic routing there.

Full closure from April 2 to the morning of April 3

On Sunday, April 2, there will be a full closure in both directions on the A 36 / B 4 for several hours from 7 a.m. This is expected to last until Monday morning, April 3, at 4:30 a.m.

Detour via Thiede:

In the direction of Braunschweig, long-distance traffic at the A 36 junction Wolfenbüttel-Nordwest will be diverted via the L 615 to Salzgitter-Thiede and then via the B 248 to the A 39 junction Braunschweig-Rüningen-Süd.

The A 36 in the direction of Braunschweig will remain open until the Braunschweig-Heidberg exit.
The Braunschweig-Melverode exit from the city center will also remain open.

Conversely, traffic affected by the full closure at the BS-Süd junction from both the city center and Wolfsburg will be routed via the A39 towards Kassel-Salzgitter. The same applies to traffic on the A391 coming from Lüneburg. From the A39 junction Braunschweig-Rüningen-Süd, the diversion route via the
detour route via the B 248 and L 615 to the A 36.

Single lane until Thursday morning:

Following this full closure, road users traveling in the direction of Braunschweig must be prepared for single-lane traffic in the area of the bridge construction site and possible obstructions until Thursday morning, April 6 at around 4:30 am.

Weather-related delays in the construction process are generally possible. The state authority asks all affected road users for their understanding.
