Free qualification measure: everyday support and household assistance

The Lower Saxony Senior Citizens and Care Support Center in Salzgitter offers interested citizens qualified training as volunteer everyday companions and household assistants in senior citizens' households.

The cooperation partners are looking forward to the new DUO training course: (from left to right) Manuela Lehrke (Lower Saxony Senior Citizens and Care Support Center in Salzgitter), Daniel Ryll (Protestant Family Education Center), Stephanie Temborius (Catholic Family Education Center PLUS), Antje Behre (Volkshochschule Salzgitter).

The qualification is funded by the state of Lower Saxony and is free of charge for participants of all ages.

As part of the program called "DUO - household assistance and everyday support", course participants learn interesting facts about age-appropriate nutrition, first aid measures, active leisure activities with and for senior citizens and much more. The course consists of a 30-hour theoretical part, which leads into a 20-hour practical part. This practical part is intended to enable participants to gain initial experience in dealing with older people in a qualified manner and to apply what they have learned.

The Senior Citizens and Care Support Center offers this qualification measure in cooperation with the Protestant and Catholic Family Education Center and the Volkshochschule of the city of Salzgitter. The course takes place on a total of 13 weekdays from Tuesday, September 5 to Thursday, October 5, mainly in the late afternoon hours. There are still places available.

The knowledge acquired can be used in the context of qualified and voluntary senior care as well as for family support.

Interested parties have the opportunity to find out more in person at an information event on Wednesday, August 23 at the Seniorentreff Lebenstedt, Am Strumpfwinkel 24, at 4 p.m. and ask questions about the training and the qualification process.
