As in the previous year, the state championships for professional fire departments were also held at this competition. Colleagues from the Salzgitter professional fire department once again successfully took part in the sporting competition. Over 160 participants from all over Germany took part in the competition in various categories.
The challenge involves carrying a 20 kg hose package up 3 floors in full protective gear. Once there, another 20 kg hose package must be pulled up the 3 floors on a rope. The next step is to descend the 3 floors as quickly as possible. Once at the bottom, an approx. 75 kg weight must be knocked backwards one meter with a hammer on an impact machine. The next stage is a slalom course at the end of which a filled hose must be picked up. This is pulled over a distance of 25m and a target is sprayed at the end. The last discipline is pulling an 80 kg dummy over a distance of 30m. The entire course must be completed as quickly as possible and can be completed by one starter alone (individual), in pairs (tandem) or in a team of 3 to 5 people (relay).
The Salzgitter professional fire department team competed with four individual runners, three tandem pairs and one relay team. The team took second and third place in the tandem-male category, second place in the individual start and tandem-mix categories and first place in the relay start category, winning the title of state champion 2023 in this category. Overall, the professional fire department team returned to the fire station with 2 bronze, 5 silver and 5 gold medals after a successful and exhausting day of competition.
"We are delighted with our new and defended successes and want to build on them next year. A big thank you goes to the organizers. Once again, we would like to congratulate all participants and winners on their achievements and especially our competitors from the professional fire departments in Lower Saxony on their successes," said the team from the Salzgitter professional fire department. Stefan Fricke (relay gold), Torben Tacke (tandem bronze, individual start), Patrick Würfel (relay gold, tandem bronze, individual start), Dominik Brunke (relay gold, tandem silver, individual start), Ronja Behnke (relay - gold, tandem mix - silver), Alexander Junge (relay - gold, tandem - silver, tandem mix - silver, individual start - silver) competed for the professional fire department team this year.
