Salzgitter

Conversion to federal ID from the Lower Saxony service account

To date, the City of Salzgitter has used the Lower Saxony service account to identify itself for online applications, and will now switch to the federal ID on November 15.

This is due to the imminent closure of the service account by the state of Lower Saxony.

The switch is simple: when registering for the Bund-ID, you only need to use the same e-mail address as for the Lower Saxony service account to gain access to applications that have already been submitted digitally.

The Bund-ID provides a central account for identification for all online applications. Some services can still be used as a guest without a Bund-ID account, but use is mandatory for others.

The use of the online ID function, for example the ID card, with the Bund-ID account also enables the written form to be replaced - the function is therefore similar to a signature. This increased level of trust is therefore mandatory for some services.

The city of Salzgitter is thus implementing an amendment to the Online Access Act, which is intended to standardize access to administrative services nationwide.
