The volunteers in Salzgitter are between 19 and 93 years old, with the average age being 63.
Volunteers live all over the city: Salzgitter-Bad with around 30 percent and Lebenstedt and Fredenberg/Lichtenberg with 19 percent each are in the lead.
Volunteers are also active in all parts of the city, with Salzgitter-Bad (34 percent), Lebenstedt (31 percent) and Gebhardshagen (ten percent) being the top three.
The main areas of volunteering are social work, youth and senior citizens (55 percent), followed by sport (22 percent) and fire/rescue services (nine percent).
Who receives the Ehrenamtskarte?
You can apply for the Ehrenamtskarte if you have been volunteering for at least five hours a week for at least three years without receiving any compensation for your time and effort other than reimbursement of costs.
The only exception so far is for holders of the Youth Leader Card (Juleica): they can receive the Ehrenamtskarte after just one year of commitment.

From the third week of August, there will be consultation hours for all questions relating to the Ehrenamtskarte on Mondays from 8 am to 12 noon and Thursdays from 3 pm to 7 pm.
