Salzgitter

Conclusion of the fire department

Yesterday afternoon and on Friday night, December 22, the fire departments in Salzgitter were called out to a total of 19 storm-related incidents in the city.

Most of the operations were caused by trees or large branches on roadways. The majority of the operations took place yesterday at the beginning of the storm between 1 pm and 5 pm. The roads affected included Eisenhüttenstraße, Nord-Süd-Straße between Gebhardshagen and Salzgitter-Bad and Kreisstraße 2 between Osterlinde and Oelber.

In conclusion, Arne Sicks, head of the Salzgitter fire department, emphasized: "I ask all citizens to avoid our parks and forests during such storm events. It is normal for branches to break off due to the strong winds and for some trees to fall, which can seriously injure people. This also applies to the coming days, when stronger winds are forecast in some places."
