Salzgitter

Successful networking event

Yesterday, Wednesday, October 4, this year's event of the Network for the Prevention of Extremism took place with around 80 guests.

Frank Ziemann from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the State of Lower Saxony (Ministry of the Interior and Sport) at the lecture "Democracy in danger"

In their welcoming address, the two presenters Claudia Kramer (SZ/PE/WF police station) and Andreas Reichelt (City of Salzgitter) made it clear that prevention work is important in our society, because words are usually followed by deeds. That is why, according to the two presenters, it is important to work together on this topic in order to make our society more open and tolerant.

This was followed by an informative presentation by Frank Ziemann from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (part of the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport) on the topic of "Democracy in danger". With many films and practical examples, he gave the participants an overview of the various areas of extremism.

Alexander Uebel (Salzgitter/Wolfenbüttel/Peine Police Inspectorate), moderator Andreas Reichelt (City of Salzgitter), Martina Malak (City of Salzgitter) and moderator Claudia Kramer at the status meeting

In the second part of the event, Maike Weth and Raphael Böß presented the Drütte Concentration Camp Memorial and Documentation Site with its exhibitions and educational programs for schoolchildren, trainees and other interested parties. Both see the memorial and documentation site, which has existed since 1994, as a meeting and learning place that is a clearly visible part of an active and defensive urban society. Educational work is an important part of prevention.

In a third presentation, Lisa Borchardt and Dr. Nils Böckler from the Politically Motivated Crime Prevention Unit (PPMK) at the Lower Saxony Criminal Police Office (LKA) used two practical case studies to present the prevention of extremism by the police and the work of the PPMK. It is particularly important here that all the players involved are included in order to be able to assess the scope of the specific case.

Petra Siems from the Prevention Council against Violence and Crime Salzgitter e.V.

The event concluded with a presentation by Alexander Uebel (Head of the Central Criminal Investigation Department of the Salzgitter/Wolfenbüttel/Peine Police Department) and Martina Malak (City Youth Officer for the City of Salzgitter).
