Salzgitter

Launch of further projects for Salzgitter's city centers

Interested citizens and local players can apply with their own ideas for the inner cities and receive financial support.

In addition to the development of inner city concepts and the numerous participation formats associated with this, two further projects are now being launched that are being made possible for the city of Salzgitter by the federal funding program "Sustainable inner cities and centers": Citizens, associations, companies and local stakeholders have two opportunities to implement their own ideas and thus revitalize the inner cities of Salzgitter-Bad and Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and make them more attractive.

Project measure 1: Cash for your project

Playground equipment, festivals and events, photo spots or more greenery in city centers? The "Cash for your project" disposition fund provides actors with money for the independent implementation of their innovative ideas.

The process is kept as simple as possible: Stakeholders apply with their creative project idea via an application on the website of Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS). If the idea is approved by the local "Inner City Working Group" committee, it can then be implemented by the applicants. The costs incurred can be covered in full. WIS is on hand to advise applicants throughout the entire process. 80,000 is still available until the end of this year for projects that can be implemented quickly. Applications can also be submitted now for the years 2024 and 2025. A tip for all interested parties: Due to the short time available until the end of the year, projects that can be implemented at short notice have a particularly good chance of being realized in a timely manner! If the project idea is to be implemented this year, it must be submitted by Thursday, November 2.

Project measure 2: Free space for your idea

"FreiRaum für deine Idee" enables actors from the retail, gastronomy, culture, education or non-profit sectors to test new uses for inner-city properties or former stores - and to do so in a completely harmless and low-risk manner.

From now on, stakeholders can submit their initial ideas for use via an application to WIS. Here too, the local committee will decide whether to approve the application. The city of Salzgitter then rents a jointly selected property and lets it to the applicant or institution at significantly reduced rates. The net cold rent can be reduced by up to 85 percent for up to two years. If the properties still need to be slightly adapted to the purpose of the respective project, budgets are also available for refurbishment or conversion.
