Last week, the Board of Trustees of the Endlager Konrad Stiftungsgesellschaft mbH met under the chairmanship of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and discussed 107 applications.
Initially, 90 grants totaling around 2 million euros were approved for this year.
The circle of sponsored project sponsors is once again broad and ranges from choral societies, shooting clubs, allotment garden associations, school clubs, voluntary fire departments, the hospice initiative, the DLRG to sports clubs in a wide variety of disciplines.
Customs and culture, sport, social and public interest - there is hardly an area in which voluntary work is not evident. "And that's a good thing," says Chairman of the Board of Trustees Klingebiel and continues: "This personal commitment is priceless in monetary terms and if we can support specific projects of clubs and associations with Konrad funding, that means an awful lot to me!"
63 project grants and thus 70% of the approvals are under 20,000 euros. They range from 350 euros for language box extensions at the Martin Luther Protestant Family Center to around 19,000 euros for a new heating system at the Salzgitter-Bad Tennis Club.
23 applicants such as the Salzgitter Hospice Initiative, allotment garden associations, cultural organizations as well as shooting and sports clubs can look forward to five-figure grants.
Two clubs will even receive funding of around 100,000 euros and 200,000 euros respectively.
Klingebiel commented: "I am delighted that we have now been able to support almost 700 charitable projects with a total of 18.7 million euros since the fund was established. Many of the projects would not be feasible without the funding for the associations, charitable institutions and facilities, which are responsible for 20% of the costs. The beneficiaries can provide this 20 percent of their own contribution with their own money, third-party funds, but also through the use of their labor, especially the joint "work effort" strengthens the team spirit and identification with the association, the facility or the institution, a great side effect!"
