Salzgitter

"Julius-Club 2023" starts in Salzgitter!

A special summer of reading awaits young people between the ages of eleven and 14 from June 23 to August 23 at the Salzgitter City Library.

The "Julius Club" ("Youth reads and writes") is starting in Salzgitter with the lending of books. All young people of the specified age can now register free of charge at the municipal libraries in Salzgitter-Bad, Lebenstedt and Fredenberg.

The "Club" is a Lower Saxony-wide program to promote literature and reading. It has been organized by the VGH Foundation and Büchereizentrale Niedersachsen since 2007 and has established itself as a successful summer holiday event in Lower Saxony.

This year's motto of the club is "Julius versatile" and so club members can not only look forward to current children's and youth books, but above all to the free weekly hands-on activities, such as programming with Scratch or survival training with NABU Salzgitter.

Anyone who has read and rated two books during the summer will receive the "Julius Diploma". As always, there are great prizes to be won at the end of the reading summer!

The summer reading club was created to counteract the so-called "reading slump" among young people. It is intended to make reading fun and awaken enthusiasm for literature among club members.

Around 6,000 children and young people take part in the "Julius Club" every year. In the 15 years of its existence, around 80,000 children and young people have been inspired by books, reading, literature and libraries.

Further information on the project can be found on the Internet at www.Julius-Club.de.

Registration for the club is possible directly in the city libraries or by e-mail to lesefoerderungstadt.salzgitterde or by telephone on 05341/ 839-3434. We will also be happy to answer any questions.
