In his new novel, Michael Kumpfmüller asks himself a completely "impossible" question: what would happen if Jesus came back to earth for a few days, to the here and now of the city of Berlin? The answer: everything would be completely different, beautiful and enjoyable in a way that is hardly ever the case in reality - and not even permanent in the novel.

Invoking divine assistance usually has no consequences. Not so for Mischa and Anastasia, students of Slavic studies, infatuated with Russian literature and - as they discover - with each other. They invite Yeshua, and Yeshua accepts the invitation. But that is not the only surprise: Yeshua appears more earthly than expected, does not perform a single miracle and yet infects everyone he meets with love. And it soon spreads throughout the town, which soon brings a gang of devils onto the scene. Because for them, kindness and happiness are a nightmare.

"Mischa and the Master" is a wonderfully light-footed, delightfully grotesque and comical novel about the sacred and the diabolical and the insatiable longings and desires of people, which are the same at all times.
