Salzgitter

March starts with lots of music

The City of Salzgitter's Department of Culture kicks off the first month of spring in March with four concerts and two theater performances for children.

Thomas Godoj performs in Salzgitter.

It starts with Thomas Godoj on Saturday, March 11, 7.30 pm, at the Kulturscheune in Lebenstedt. The name Thomas Godoj has been synonymous with gripping rock music with German lyrics for more than a decade. With his eight studio albums to date, the singer can look back on a varied repertoire ranging from emotional ballads to catchy melodies. The interplay between the audience's euphoria and the musicians' sheer joy of playing turn Godoj shows into very special experiences full of emotion.

A new Nordic saga by Niels Klaunick will be presented by the children's theater for school classes and private individuals on Tuesday, March 14, from 10:30 a.m. in the Kulturscheune. "Einar, who set out to save the world".

A story full of imagination and empathy, about little heroes and heroines who save the whole world for the big fools. Drama, puppetry and shadow play combined in a poetic Nordic saga that tells of attentiveness to life and fellow creatures.

Steve Baker and band can be heard on March 18.

The music continues on Saturday, March 18, from 8 p.m. in the Kniestedter Kirche in Salzgitter-Bad with Steve Baker & Band and "The Great Divide". Steve Baker has long enjoyed an international reputation as an innovative and stylistically versatile pioneer on the harmonica.

His expressive playing style has earned him a reputation as one of Europe's leading harp players. His exciting original compositions offer a broad stylistic spectrum, ranging from British beat to funky New Orleans groove, from pulsating rock to gritty modern blues.

Laura Cox provides rocking sounds.

Laura Cox can then be heard on Thursday, March 23, from 7.30 pm in the Kulturscheune. She is a "badass rock'n'roll lady" who produces sounds with her guitar that make the world shake musically.

She has played her way into the rankings of the greatest female guitarists. Her new album "Head Above Water" contains eleven great rock songs full of energy and great personality.

Heidi's secrets are revealed...

On Sunday, March 26, from 3 pm, the secret of Heidi will be revealed in the series "No Sunday like any other" in the Kulturscheune - a story of breaking down and pitching tents, of leaving and coming home.

The story: In Glimmerdal, Norway, there is only one child - Tonje. Her best friend is the old, crotchety oddball Gunnvald. Tonje goes on breakneck sleigh rides, Gunnvald watches and makes cocoa. Gunnvald has been with Tonje for as long as she can remember. When a strange woman suddenly appears on the farm, Tonje's world turns upside down. She begins to uncover a big secret about Gunnvald. Heidi...

Manu Lanvin can be heard in Salzgitter.

March will end on a musical note with Manu Lanvin & The Devil Blues on Thursday, March 30, from 8 p.m. in the Kniestedt church. The power trio around namesake Manu plays a sizzling mixture of earthy blues, driving boogie and haunting rock and pop elements. Their eternal anthem "Blues, booze and Rock'n'Roll" from 2016 is probably one of the best classic rock songs of recent years.
