Following the workshop in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt last Saturday, the second city workshop on the development of the city center will now take place on Saturday, October 7, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Klesmerplatz. In addition to exhibitions, there will be various participation stations. From 13:30 to 15:00, there will also be a dialog on the topic of "Revitalizing the city centre together!". Later, various experts will be involved in the discussion.

The city centers of many municipalities are facing far-reaching changes, such as the increase in online retail. The coronavirus pandemic in particular has accelerated these processes and led to emptier city centers.

It is clear that there is an urgent need to adapt city centers. The Federal Program for Sustainable Inner Cities and Centres, which is being implemented by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB), is now supporting 228 municipalities in this task - including the city of Salzgitter.

Among other things, a sustainable city center concept is to be developed by CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH with the participation of as many local stakeholders as possible.
