A new feature this year was the awarding of the town's schoolboy king or queen.
In the end, it was Niklas Jordan who was presented with a target and the city schoolchildren's challenge cup by Mayor Frank Klingebiel, District Treasurer Rolf-Werner Müller, District Chief Shooting Officer Michael Tomaschek and District Sports Association Chairman Clemens Löcke. All other city kings and queens also received a target and a challenge cup from the Salzgitter District Sports Association.
"It is a great pleasure for me to be able to host one of the most beautiful festivals in Salzgitter," said Klingebiel, welcoming the marksmen and women as well as representatives from the sport of marksmanship, the Chairman of the Salzgitter District Sports Association, Clemens Löcke, and representatives from the council and city administration. "With today's reception, we are maintaining a tradition in our young city," emphasized the Lord Mayor. He recalled that the first "royal meeting" took place 50 years ago in the town hall in Lebenstedt - at that time at the invitation of Lord Mayor Willi Blume. The Lord Mayor assured: "Much has changed in the world. The connection between the Lord Mayors of the city of Salzgitter and the shooting sisters and brothers of our city
-brothers and sisters of our city has endured."
The merits of the clubs were also the subject of the proclamation. "Togetherness is at the forefront of your work. You combine tradition and modernity; old and young." In his speech, Klingebiel welcomed the promotion of young people in the shooting clubs: Youth work is of great importance to the clubs, he said. "They combine sporting educational work with the communication of values and tradition. It is also about contributing to personality development and promoting social behavior," he praised. The clubs also teach young shooters how to handle sporting weapons safely.
But before the mayor honored the winners at the Stadtkönigsproklamation, there was the sporting competition. In the morning, the city kings and queens to be honored were shot out among the majesties of the shooting clubs in the shooting clubhouse of the Lebenstedt shooting club.
The honorable titles won in sport can now be worn:
