Salzgitter

Carolers in the town hall

Today, Friday, January 6, Christian Striese, Second Mayor of the City of Salzgitter, welcomed a group of 40 young carol singers to the town hall, who brought God's blessing and also collected donations for children in need around the world.

He conveyed the greetings of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and was delighted with the children's commitment: "You are taking responsibility for other people by going from house to house, bringing your blessings and collecting donations for children and families who are much worse off than you are. I think it's absolutely fantastic that you are actively doing good. That's something special at your age!"

Dean Romanus Kohl, head priest of Salzgitter, expressed his thanks for the invitation to the town hall and for the collection campaign: "This invitation is a sign of appreciation for the work of the carol singers and for the work of the Catholic Church in Salzgitter. I would like to thank you, dear carol singers, for walking through the city in all weathers to bring God's blessing to the people and collect donations for the children of the world."

The motto of this year's 65th carol singing campaign is "Empowering children, protecting children - in Indonesia and worldwide". The money raised by the carol singers will be used to support around 1,400 projects worldwide. In 2023, the campaign will focus on child protection and child participation. Last year, 38.6 million euros in donations were collected nationwide as part of the Three Kings Singing, with 15,870 euros raised in Salzgitter. In Salzgitter, the four Catholic parishes of St. Bernward (Thiede), St. Joseph (Lebenstedt), St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe (Fredenberg) and St. Marien (Bad) are involved.
