Salzgitter

"I'll be outside then"

Survival in the wilderness, research expeditions into the secret world of insects, a magical midsummer night and many more (new) outdoor courses: The Volkshochschule of the city of Salzgitter and the Salzgitter Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) invite children and adults to special nature experiences.

Research trip, survival training or conjuring up a three-course meal over a campfire: the Volkshochschule and NABU are offering many new outdoor courses.

Survival in the wild: In the "Bushcrafting" workshop (Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), adults learn the art of making a fire in different ways and also try it out for themselves. Of course, safety measures are also included.

Equally important for survival in the wilderness is the construction of a safe sleeping camp so that spending the night is not dangerous... Various methods and models are tested together (Saturday, April 29 from 10 am to 2 pm).

Important survival techniques and various orientation methods are the focus of "Survival training - self-awareness in nature" for adults, which is offered in two courses in May (7 and 28 May from 10 am to 6 pm). Participants will learn how to follow animal tracks, try out sneaking and camouflage techniques and build a leaf hut.

Survival training is also offered for "brave kids" (May 13 and 27 and June 10 from 10 am to 4 pm), where boys and girls aged 8 and over can go on a special nature journey. Foraging for food, the art of making a fire and carving your own bow await as adventures.

The research expedition into the secret world of insects (Saturday, June 3 from 3 to 6 p.m.) promises very small adventures for children aged 6 and over, who have to create their own explorer bag, look through the eyes of an insect and complete a fun course...

Those who want to go on a culinary voyage of discovery should register for Saturday, June 24 (11 am to 2 pm): Girls and boys aged 8 and over can conjure up a three-course meal at the campfire, prepare all the ingredients over flame and embers and then refine them with wild herbs. Simply delicious!

Women can experience a magical midsummer night on the longest night of the year (June 24). In this course, the women set up a sleeping camp, learn the art of making a fire, cook together, experience ancient rituals and make their own healing cream.
