Salzgitter

VHS study trips to Albania and Cuba

The series of jointly organized study trips by the Volkshochschule (VHS) of the city of Salzgitter and the Kreisvolkshochschule (KVHS) of the district of Goslar will continue in the coming year.

The first destination will be Albania from May 16 to 25, 2024. The country in south-eastern Europe, with its long and varied history from ancient times to the present day, is still a missing piece of the mosaic for many travelers.

Historic cities, extensive beaches, untouched national parks and a rich culture with ancient archaeological sites await guests. Albania - a real insider tip to discover. The tour starts in the capital Tirana. This is followed by historic Kruja with the Skanerbeg Museum, Albania's national hero, and the port city of Durres on the Adriatic.

Other stops will be the excavations of Apollonia, the Llogara National Park, the Albanian Riviera, the excavation site of Butrint, the cultural metropolis of Korca, the mountains and of course Ohrid, the "Jerusalem of the Balkans", with the lake of the same name.

Bookings for the Albania study tour are now being accepted. The price is 1599 euros for groups of 12 or more and 1499 euros for groups of 15 or more (single room supplement 235 euros). Outward and return flights are with Lufthansa from Hanover and the tour is in modern coaches. Accommodation is in 3- to 4-star hotels with half board (breakfast and dinner).

Another travel destination Cuba

The two Volkshochschulen have also already scheduled a trip to Cuba from November 17 to 30, 2024. The tour leads from Havana across the island from Vinales in the north through the mountains to Santa Clara, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa to Holguin.

Revolution and socialism have shaped the island in a unique way. Experts and compatriots will provide exclusive insights into politics, business and culture. Advance information from tour guide Norbert Uhde by telephone (05371/7502702).
