Female revolution in Iran

On Wednesday, October 25, at 6.30 p.m., Prof. Dr. Reza Asghari will give a lecture on "Female Revolution in Iran" at the Salzgitter City Library in Lebenstedt. He will present the current political situation and social change in Iran.

The murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by the morality police in Tehran in September 2022 has triggered the largest protest movement in Iran since the establishment of the Islamic Republic. In more than 130 cities, young people have not only called for an end to the compulsory headscarf for women, but also for an end to the corrupt and repressive regime. The Islamic regime in Iran murdered more than 450 demonstrators, including 50 minors.

Despite the brutal suppression of the protest movement, Asghari said, the regime had to capitulate to the courageous women who today decide for themselves whether they want to wear a headscarf or not.
"Just in the country," summarizes the professor, "where the first Islamic theocracy in modern times was established in 1979, a secular democracy movement led by young women is emerging from within. "
