The fire caused extensive damage, particularly to the hall's electrical supply. This was the result of an intensive inspection of the hall by employees of the building management, purchasing and logistics departments, a fire insurance employee and several experts.

According to the experts, it will take some time to restore the electrical supply required for sports operations. The hall must remain closed for the duration of the work. The administration asks all users for their understanding.

Annette Schudrowitz, Managing Director of Bäder, Sport und Freizeit GmbH (BSF), adds: "The sports clubs affected will be contacted by our sports office and possible alternatives will be sought together. I am also appealing to other sports clubs to share their hall times in other halls or to use the halls jointly if necessary. The sportsmen and sportswomen from Salzgitter should stick together here.
