Human rights made tangible in many ways

The traveling exhibition of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) "Menschen.Rechte.Leben" will be on display in Salzgitter for three weeks. The opening took place in the atrium of the town hall in Lebenstedt.

Opening the exhibition in Salzgitter (from left): Bernadeta Kocot-Miczka, Head of the Youth and Democracy Education Team in the Municipal Children and Youth Promotion Department, City Youth Officer Martina Malak, Fabien Gebhardt from the Municipal Children and Youth Promotion Department, who offers the tours; Karl-Julius Meyer, Advisory Board Member of the Children's Commission, Linus-Noah Slomka, Advisory Board Chairman of the Children's Commission and Lars Tietjen, Deputy Advisory Board Member of the Children's Commission

City youth worker Martina Malak thanked the representatives of the children's commission and the youth and democracy education team in the children, youth and family department of the city of Salzgitter for the organization and presentation to the public.

The important topic of human rights ties in with "75 years of the Basic Law" and would also like to invite all citizens to view the illustrative display walls or the film.

The special feature in Salzgitter is the "Actionbound": "This was developed by Fabien Gebhardt from the department of municipal child and youth development. It is a sustainable version of the exhibition," she emphasized at the opening: "Interested visitors can experience the exhibition digitally free of charge in a way that is suitable for children and young people and varied, and go on a scavenger hunt.

Fabien Gebhardt also offers guided tours of the traveling exhibition for school classes (from grade 5). Four schools from Salzgitter have already made an appointment. Others are welcome to get in touch to learn about human rights as the basis for democratic action.

This was also emphasized by Linus-Noah Slomka, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Children's Commission, who thanked the Youth and Democracy Education team as well as the administration for their cooperation. "Children's rights are human rights. The traveling exhibition is a good start to present the work of the newly established Children's Commission."

Information about the exhibition:

The initiator of the traveling exhibition "MENSCHEN.RECHTE.LEBEN" is the Evangelical Church of Germany (EKD), Department for Human Rights, Migration and Integration. The exhibition is part of their human rights initiative #freeandequal.

The structure of the exhibition is based on three central pillars: People, Rights and Life. At the various stations, visitors have the opportunity to take a closer look at their rights. Some stations are designed to be interactive in order to actively involve visitors, while other stations provide new knowledge. Visitors can inform themselves, empathize and are invited to reflect.

The aim is to engage intensively with the topic of human rights.

The exhibition is designed for young people, adults and families. It appeals to individual visitors, but is also suitable for smaller groups.
