On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of the major new construction project in the north of Salzgitter. It follows an innovative development plan that is closely linked to the city's climate protection concept. This concept sets clear guidelines for the consistent avoidance of fossil fuels, traffic-calmed development and modern precipitation management.
WBV Wohnbau Betreuungs & Verwaltungs GmbH Salzgitter (WBV), a subsidiary of Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH Salzgitter (Wohnbau), had previously acquired the land from the city of Salzgitter. Glückauf Immobilien GmbH (GIG) is responsible for project management on behalf of WBV. The developer is MT Massivhausgesellschaft mbH, Braunschweig (MT), which is also responsible for sales. In addition, the individual properties are planned and built according to customer requirements.
In cooperation with WEVG Salzgitter GmbH & Co KG (WEVG), the development area will be supplied with "cold local heating" to ensure a particularly resource-friendly and efficient energy supply.
In addition to Lord Mayor and Supervisory Board member of Wohnbau Frank Klingebiel and Mayor of SZ-Thiede and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wohnbau, Christian Striese, City Councillor Michael Tacke, Christian Heinrich (Managing Director of Wohnbau), Jens Bischoff (Managing Director of Wohnbau and WBV) and WEVG Managing Directors Johannes Eickmann and Rainer Krause were also on site.
"This special construction project not only represents a response to the need for living space in a prime location in Salzgitter, but is also an ecologically and sustainably oriented pilot project that pursues innovative approaches to energy efficiency as well as climate and environmental protection. It is a further significant step towards future-oriented urban development," said Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel. Local mayor Christian Striese adds that this is an important step towards meeting the demand for building land.
"This construction project very clearly demonstrates Wohnbau Salzgitter's strategy for the further development of Salzgitter as a location and undoubtedly fits into the future 'residential' portfolio," added Christian Heinrich and Jens Bischoff.
Development work will begin in March 2024, followed by the start of construction on the first properties.
Project completion is planned for the end of 2025.
