Salzgitter

Colorful brine for the Ostertal School

A special award for a special commitment: this year, the Ostertal School received the "Bunte Sole" 2024 award together with the school management, school staff and volunteers in the school environment.

The "Bunte Sole" was awarded to the Ostertalschule in Lebenstedt (school management with the school staff and volunteers in the school environment).

On Sunday, around 700 guests experienced a varied event in the auditorium of the Salzgitter-Bad grammar school and many enthusiastic guests.

The Department for Integration and the Citizens' Service for Migrants (BSfM) had organized a varied programme of entertainment, cabaret, music and entertainment: The "Let`s Dance" participants Ekaterina Leonova and Paul Lorenz, comedian Benaissa Lamroubal, singer Suzan, singer Emily Rose from Salzgitter and the dancers from the Kwiatkowski dance school from Salzgitter took part.

Christian Striese, second mayor of the city of Salzgitter, thanked the mayor Frank Klingebiel, the city council and the administration for this important and traditional event. "On behalf of the city of Salzgitter and also personally, I would like to thank everyone who is doing great things for integration and therefore for our city. Thanks to their great commitment, Salzgitter is today a cosmopolitan city characterized by humanity and solidarity with cultural diversity," said the Second Mayor. Integration has a very high priority in and for Salzgitter. This makes the commitment of people who are committed to integration all the more important.

Presenter and organizer Dincer Dinc ensured an entertaining afternoon in his usual entertaining manner before announcing this year's winners in his laudatory speech:
The Ostertalschule in Lebenstedt with the school management, the school staff and the volunteers in the school environment.

The dedicated staff manage to support the primary school pupils in a special way and also take a holistic view of the family.
The teaching of basic knowledge in the school subjects is embedded in numerous wonderful support modules. Pupils can choose from many additional activities, such as learning to ride a bike or taking part in a choir group.

In his laudatory speech, Dincer Dinc emphasized that the catchment area of the primary school children attending the Ostertal School is characterized by many families with a migration or refugee background. The school management and staff have risen to these challenges and built up a unique network in the district.

"This school is particularly committed to supporting all pupils, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. The staff have created a learning environment in which every child feels accepted and valued," says Dincer Dinc.

The collaboration with the committed local residents is particularly special. They are involved in the implementation of the Brotzeit project (free breakfast), repair bicycles and have taken on reading sponsorships. This cooperation between children with and without a migration background is exemplary and a model for other disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Dincer Dinc emphasized: "This school is a role model for how school can succeed. It shows us that education is more than just teaching facts. Education also means developing social skills, taking responsibility and being part of a community. The staff have made a significant contribution to making this school such a special place. Ladies and gentlemen, this school is a place where the future is being shaped. A place where children grow up to be self-confident and tolerant people. Let's work together to ensure that this school continues to be a wonderful example of educational institutions that build a strong community."

The Citizens' Service for Migrants, which initiated the "Bunte Sole" integration prize together with the city of Salzgitter, has awarded the Bunte Sole to volunteers or particularly exemplary social initiatives for the twelfth time. The award recognizes outstanding achievements that promote integration.
