ETL 186 will connect to the existing GUD pipeline network to the east of Peine and transport the required quantities of energy to the SZFG plant to the east of Hallendorf.
The project will enable the implementation of Salzgitter AG's SALCOS project, which aims to save over 95% of the 8 million tons of CO2 generated during production. The project is part of the hydrogen core network, which is currently being examined and approved by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA).
Nature conservation and environmental protection concerns are a key factor influencing the route planning. In order to be able to incorporate these concerns into the necessary planning at an early stage, mapping of the European hamster will be carried out in Salzgitter in the coming months. The mapping will begin in May 2024 and will be completed by the end of October 2024.
