Work will be carried out simultaneously in two construction phases with half and full road closures. The closures are expected to be lifted by the beginning of June.
- Construction phase: Between Lobmachtersen and Beinum, the remaining work, such as verge work, placing delineators, installing crash barriers and setting up signage, will be carried out under a half-side closure. Traffic will be diverted past the construction site.
- Construction phase: For the work between Salzgitter-Bad and Beinum, it is necessary to close the road to traffic completely.
The detour for this will be via the state road 472 from Salzgitter-Bad, Gebhardshagen to district road 30 Watenstedt and then back onto the federal road 248. The detour for the opposite direction will be in the opposite direction.
Background: Road resurfacing work began in June 2023 on a stretch of around 5.1 kilometers of the B248 between Salzgitter-Bad and Salzgitter-Lobmachtersen. The work had to be discontinued at the end of last year due to the extreme weather conditions.
