The Board of Trustees of the Endlager Konrad Stiftungsgesellschaft mbH, chaired by Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, approved funding totaling 2.2 million euros for around 100 applications at two meetings in May and in the last week of July. Around 40 applications were deferred due to the need for further information and consultation and will be dealt with in a third meeting.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Klingebiel: "With over 150 applications and an application volume of 6.5 million euros, a new application record was set in this funding year. This shows that our foundation is now firmly anchored and recognized in the Salzgitter, Lengede and Vechelde funding area. We have been continuously and sustainably supporting volunteering in Salzgitter and the two municipalities since 2011. Our funding record over the past 13 years is unique in our region. Not only I, but also the members of the Board of Trustees and the Managing Directors Simone Kessner and Rainer Dworog are extremely proud of this."

The circle of sponsored project sponsors is once again broad. Mayor Klingebiel explains: "The projects are as diverse as our urban society. It is always an impressive mix: this time, for example, a dishwashing trolley for the THW, training equipment for the rehabilitation sports group, games and a storage cabinet for the association to promote strategic board games or a major project such as the DLRG water rescue station, which is particularly close to our hearts in Salzgitter. Everything was approved that corresponds to the purpose of the statutes and convinced the board of trustees."

Sports clubs, allotment garden, singing, shooting and school clubs, the volunteer fire departments, the hospice initiative - they are all representative of the broad-based non-profit associations in Salzgitter. Chairman of the Board of Trustees Klingebiel states: "And the fact that they are doing so well is thanks to the outstanding commitment of the many volunteers! I am delighted that we have been able to support almost 800 projects with a total of 21 million euros since the fund was established. Many of the projects would not have been possible without the financial support of the Konrad Foundation. But they would also not have been possible if it weren't for the people who are so committed with their ideas, drive and courage to take responsibility... and that is ultimately priceless!"

Funding is provided for projects in the areas of sport, culture and customs, social affairs and projects that are in the public interest. Sports clubs and social clubs and associations each receive a third of the funding amounts distributed so far for 2024, with the remaining 700,000 euros going to cultural and traditional projects, for example to benefit shooting clubs or projects in the public interest, such as everything that our volunteer fire departments in our urban area do for us on a voluntary basis, around the clock and for the local community.
