Many well-known publishers have put together a colorful selection of 21 comics especially for this day, in which fans of drawn stories will find superheroes, well-known Disney characters as well as completely new comic figures. This time, the focus will be exclusively on children's comics, a segment that has been increasingly served by many comic and literary publishers in recent years.
Visitors to the city library, whether young, old, small or large, can take this reading with them free of charge.
"Comic Book Day is an absolute must for us as a city library," says director Sylvia Fiedler. "Comics are popular with children and young people as well as adults. It's an area that has become firmly established in recent years and is a natural part of reading culture," she explains, pointing out that comics from Asia, for example, are the fastest growing segment of the German book trade.
The free comic books will be available on May 11 at the Lebenstedt City Library (opening hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and at the Salzgitter-Bad City Library (opening hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
After this Comic Book Day, the remaining comic books will remain in the city libraries to take away and will then also be available at the Fredenberg branch (during the respective opening hours).
