By the end of the application period, the City of Salzgitter's Children, Youth and Family Department had received applications from these 18 young people. The election for the youth parliament, which consists of 25 parliamentarians and three assessors and was planned for mid-April, was therefore canceled. An election would have been necessary if there had been more applications than places.

The 18 applicants are directly elected to the committee. This is provided for in the Youth Parliament's election and rules of procedure.

The constituent meeting of the 6th Youth Parliament of the City of Salzgitter will take place on 30.05.2024. The agenda includes the appointment of the new members of the Youth Parliament and the farewell to the members of the fifth electoral term. Until the constituent meeting is held, the youth parliament members of the 5th electoral term will remain in office.
