Colorful "storytelling afternoon" with coffee/tea and cake

Still looking for free storytellers! On Sunday, April 14, 3 p.m., the Kniestedter Kirche (Kniki) in Salzgitter-Bad will once again open its doors for a colorful "storytelling afternoon" with coffee/tea and cake, following on from the first round of this event format over four years ago.

The event is organized by the Salzgitter Literary Society and the Literaturbüro of the City of Salzgitter's Department of Culture. The afternoon "story endurance run" starts with free, continuous admission. Not only listeners are invited to be entertained by the freely recited stories, but storytellers are also being sought.

Admission to the "Storytelling Afternoon" is free. Coffee/tea and cake will be offered by the bar team of the Kleinkunstbühne Salzgitter-Bad for a small contribution towards expenses.

Pre-workshop for the storytellers on stage

The two organizers are still looking forward to receiving applications from storytellers who would like to present their contributions on the Kniki stage on the afternoon of 14 April.

In addition and as a kind of "warm-up", a "storytelling workshop" (free of charge for the presenters of the "Storytelling Afternoon") will be offered in advance on Friday, April 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., where those interested can get initial feedback and possible tips for the presentation of their story from the organizers and fellow storytellers.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to tell a story, whether it's something they've experienced themselves or heard, a true story or one they've found, funny or serious, an anecdote, a fairy tale, a story from their own neighborhood or the wider world.

Anyone (amateurs, not professionals) who can contribute a story of two to a maximum of 10 minutes in length, who would like to get a taste of the stage air mixed with the smell of coffee and entertain the audience with a short, heartfelt, thought-provoking, exciting and/or funny story, is therefore invited to register with the organizers to take part. This can be done by calling 05341 / 839-3752 or literaturbuerostadt.salzgitterde or by calling 05341 / 871168 or brigreint-onlinede. Important: it is about free storytelling, not reading a text aloud.

This was the case at the "Storytelling Afternoon" 2020

In 2020, 16 amateur storytellers from Salzgitter and the surrounding area gathered in the wind- and rain-proof "KniKi living room" in stormy February weather and entertained the audience sitting around coffee, tea and cake for a few hours with a wide variety of stories they had brought with them.

This event for young and old was inspired by the Fürth Storytelling Night, which is based on a tradition from Spain: the "Maratón de los Cuentos" in the Castilian city of Guadalajara - a storytelling marathon that lasts several days and is attended by streams of listeners every year.
